Direct Service to the Homeless?

Just recently interim program director, Amy Brown (AKA my supervisor) was interviewed by a local news station here in Detroit and was asked a few questions really as a follow up of the recent article found in the Huffington Post, where a police officer gave a shoeless homeless man new boots. The debate continues as to what to do, to give money, to not, to give direct aid, to not, was the police officer correct in giving to the man, or not? It is a beautiful and ever complex debate. I don't pretend to have any answers, instead just a perspective to lend to the debate.
